On fitting & not fitting in and about its price, 2021
Dedicated to my third great-grandmother Siura Gurfinkiel a.k.a. Tekla Majewska of Koden, who converted from Judaism to Catholicism almost 200 years ago in May 1836.
At first they were to be part of my cross ceramic-glass research. I imagined glass being blown into my bisqued ceramic pieces to bring the inside of the casts out. Then the pandemic started, access to the glassworks became very complicated and I was left with a series of bisqueware waiting for the end of it all. It took me more than a year to realize that the inside should be cast in porcelain rather than blown in glass. A personal project requires an intimate and personal process. And that is what casting is for me.
parian cast in a previously bisqued ceramic shell, cable ties, h. 23- 31 cm
