Today, pink is one of the most controversial colours, commonly identified with innocence and silliness, which are often seen as exactly the same thing. I started using pink during an artist residency in Spain, where pink was the colour of graffiti and ‘Liquidacion total’, ‘Se Alquila’ and ‘Se vende’ cards left on the doors of bankrupt shops. For me, it is the colour of decay and disintegration.
